OOHLA’s secret room is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived on the two devices, so the service holds ciphertext and no key — there is no support view, no admin view and no export. That is an architectural fact rather than a policy, which is the difference between a promise that can be withdrawn and one that cannot.

How can two people share what they want in bed without it becoming a negotiation?

By answering separately and only surfacing the overlap. In OOHLA both partners answer the same list privately, and an item appears only when both said yes — so nobody learns they were turned down, because nobody learns they were asked. Removing the moment of asking is what removes the pressure.

What happens to our data if we break up?

Accepted Answer

Either person can unlink on their own, and either can export or delete everything. Unlinking runs on a seven-day timer that either of you can stop; deletion removes the account and everything attached to it, and the encrypted room goes with the key rather than being retained. Nothing needs the other person’s agreement.

Does an age check mean handing over my ID?

At OOHLA, yes — briefly. You send a photo of an ID and a photo of yourself, one reviewer compares the date of birth on the document with the date you gave, and both images are deleted at the moment they decide. What survives is a date and the word adult. No independent verifier is involved yet and we do not describe it as though one is; when that changes this answer changes with it.

Do apps like this send notifications about your sex life?

OOHLA sends none — no push, no email about the app, no daily reminder, no streak. What is waiting shows as a count on a bell inside the app, never as content and never on a lock screen, because a lock screen is a public place and the person who reads it is not always the person it was meant for.

How does a couples app handle one partner wanting more than the other?

By running every shared surface at the lower of the two settings, automatically. In OOHLA each person sets their own level and anything shared is capped at the smaller number, so a limit one person set binds both without either having to enforce it in conversation. Nothing sold anywhere can raise it.
